We can announce with 100% certainty that Djanoa's baby in Planckendael is a girl!
This is good news, because in bonobos, it is the females who order.
The ZOO Planckendael bonobo group currently has 8 females and 6 males.
It is certainly women who have the power!
In the bonobos, the sons stay with their mothers all their lives.
The girls move to another animal park around the age of eight.

Vote for your favorite name!

Now that we know the sex of the baby, the carers of Djanoa wish to give a name to the little female bonobo
Preferably with your help
The trainers have chosen 2 pretty names in Lingala, the African lingua franca of the region where bonobos live.

It's up to you!
Do you prefer Ulu (meaning: second daughter), or Unabii (meaning: prediction).
You can vote during the whole carnival break on the Facebook page of the ZOO Planckendael.
