Over 4,900 participants attempt to qualify for the virtual Porsche Supercup

Porsche is expanding its partnership with the sim racing supplier iRacing.
Since mid-December, competitors have competed in qualifying rounds for the 2020 Porsche Esports Supercup in the so-called "Porsche iRacing Cup" on various virtual circuits.
Over 4,900 sim runners have already participated in the qualifying rounds, twice as many participants as last year.
Qualification ends March 2, with the top 20 qualifiers winning to participate in the Porsche Esports Supercup.
Currently, Formula 1 driver and sim racing enthusiast Max Verstappen is competing, with Red Bull racer from the Netherlands ranking 20th to February 10, 2020.
The illustrious line-up will be enriched by the 20 best sim racers of the last season.
They automatically qualify for the 2020 races.

During qualification, an iRating system created by iRacing ensures that the level of performance is consistent.
The individual numerical value gives an idea of the general skills and success of each driver.
The key to achieving the highest possible numerical value is, for example, perfect driving and the corresponding result.
In addition, the points earned at the end of the qualifying rounds determine the level of performance compared to the entire starting grid.

Last year, a total of 2,372 drivers attempted to qualify for the Porsche Esports Supercup.
For the 2020 season, defending champion Joshua Rogers (Australia) and his biggest rivals Max Benecke (Germany), Sebastian Job (Great Britain) and Mitchell deJong (USA) are back as favorites.
In 2019, they won the first four places in the championship.

The best sim racers in the world will compete in the 2020 Porsche Esports Supercup.
A total of 40 drivers will compete in ten online races in a virtual Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
Most of these races take place in parallel to the true championship rounds of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, which are organized to support European Formula 1 events.

The first championship simulator race takes off on May 2 on the virtual version of the Zandvoort Circuit in the Netherlands.
At the same time, the current Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup will race its first race in the same place.
On September 19, the Italian Circuit of Monza will host the last round of the Esports Supercup.
