INCIT-EV Project :
Innovative solutions from
electric charges soon to be tested in Europe

Share

• The INCIT-EV [1] project aims to encourage the development of electromobility in Europe through field experiments.
• 7 innovative charging technologies for electric vehicles will be tested at selected sites in Europe
• The Renault Group is coordinating this initiative, which is supported by the European Commission as part of a call for projects for the European Horizon 2020 program.

The Renault Group announces the official launch of the INCIT-EV project, in collaboration with 32 partners in Europe.
This project aims to promote electromobility through user-centric experiments in innovative charging technologies for electric vehicles.

7 use cases tested in Europe

Lasting 48 months, from January 2020 to December 2023, the INVIT-EV project revolves around two main phases:

• A phase of study of consumers' needs and constraints which will be followed, from April 2020, by the study of charging technologies and their integration into infrastructures.

• A demonstration phase on site of 7 technologies, from the second half of 2022 and until the end of the project.
- A dynamic induction charging system in urban areas in Paris in France;
- High-power charging systems in the outskirts of Tallinn in Estonia;
- Optimized bidirectional smart charging in Amsterdam and Utrecht in the Netherlands;
- A dynamic induction charging system in peri-urban / long-range areas in Versailles in France;
- A charging hub in a car park for car-sharing vehicles on the outskirts of Turin in Italy;
- Low-power bidirectional load (including two wheels) and static inductive load in the tracks
taxis located at Zaragoza Airport and Central Station in Spain.

A project with a European dimension initiated by the Renault Group

To meet the need to test charging technologies in real conditions - such as Contactless Dynamic Charging (CDC) technology [2] - and to structure the ecosystem as a whole, the Renault Group wished to apply for a call for projects the European Commission.
In this context, the group worked to create a consortium.
Thirty manufacturers, universities, institutes, cities, start-ups and SMEs have responded positively to this initiative, with the common desire to promote electromobility in Europe through experiments focused on users of electric vehicles.
A strongly customer-focused approach that will build a new ecosystem and design charging technologies that can be easily deployed to encourage the development of electromobility in Europe.

"A pioneer of electric vehicles in Europe, the Renault Group is recognized for being an innovative company and positioning its customers at the heart of its concerns," said Xavier Serrier, project manager for electric vehicle charging systems at the Renault Group Research Department .
"The INCIT-EV project that we initiated is thus a broad demonstration on a continental scale of urban and long-distance charging solutions centered on users in order to stimulate the deployment of the electric vehicle in Europe. "

Based in Germany, Spain, Estonia, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Turkey,
the 33 members of the consortium are: ATOS SPAIN SA, AVERE France, Ayuntamiento de Zaragoza, BIT & BRAIN technologies SL, Bursa Buyuksehir Belediyesi, COLAS SA, Commune de Paris, Comune di TORINO, Eesti Energia Aktsiaselts, ELES doo Sistemski operater prenosnega elatroenegets , EUROVIA Management, EV charged BV, Vedecom Fondation Partenariale MOV'EOTEC, Fondazione LINKS - Leading Innovation & Knowledge for Society, FPT INDUSTRIAL SPA, Fundación CIRCE Centro de Investigación de Recursos y Consumos Energéticos, GREENFLUX Assets BV, RENAULT Group, IDNE0 Technologies SAU , Ingeneria y Técnica del Transporte TRIA SA, French Institute of Sciences and Technologies of Transport, Planning and Networks, IREN SPA, Pitpoint EV BV, Politecnico di Torino, PRIMA ELECTRO SPA, Province Noord-Holland MRAE, PSA ID, QI ENERGY ASSESSMENT SL, Red Eléctrica de España SAU, Stadwerke Nordeney GMBH, Univerza V Ljubljani, We Drive Solar.

A project supported by the European Commission

The INCIT-EV project received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement no. 875683.

At the origin of the INCIT-EV consortium, the Renault Group is the coordinator.
As such, the Renault Group is the interface between the European Commission and all of the partners, and oversees technical, budgetary and planning development.
