Agra – Dehli

This morning wake up before dawn.

The carriages are waiting for us to arrive first at the entrance to visit the Taj Mahal.

The day is not up yet.
Already the line for the entrance of the temple of love is forming.
Women in a row, men in the other and Indians in a third and fourth (they are also many to visit the site).

The time has come to finally see this construction on the right side.
Even if it's still dark cameras are in action.
And little by little, the fabulous construction emerges from the morning mist in all its splendor.

A reward for our forced awakening.

Made of white marble, it is encrusted with jasper, turquoise, lapis lazuli, garnet coral, ... 28 fine stones from different countries and regions.
The central piece contains two cenotaphs of the emperor and the empress.
We can say that this construction deserves to be part of UNESCO World Heritage and that it is not without reason one of the seven wonders of the world.

It will not be our last visit before departure.

Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal, the Red Fort is one of the largest in India (38 hectares).
We are greeted by a few monkeys looking to graze bananas or other treats that tourists lose sight of.
This important Mughal sandstone building dates from the 16th century.
For 200 years it was the residence of the Mughal emperors but also the seat of the Indian rebellion in 11857 which ended the East India Company.
The site contains in its 2.5 km of walls red sandstone and white marble palaces.

It is on this last visit that we must think about the return to Europe.
