Charlu

In a setting that would almost believe that we are in the countryside in the city, a gourmet bistro, in which the best French specialties are revisited with talent.
There, in a calm and relaxed environment, a little away from the worries of downtown, have settled over the years some good tables that deserve the attention of lovers of good food.
While keeping the sign and the essential of the beautiful decor paneled of old bistro, the new operators decided to radically change the gastronomic orientation of the place. It is that the new team at the head of the Charlu is far from being composed of unknown "bistronomic" cuisine lovers.
Behind the project, we find Patrick Triest who has carved out over the years a good reputation among the people of Uccle.

The layout of the place was such that little work was needed.
Only a beautiful and authentic counter of zinc, made in Lyon by one of the last specialists, has come to enrich the decor already bistro of the beautiful room both warm and authentic

To liven up the place and give it all its character, this is another figure well known to lovers of good food, Antoine Salviat. In order to put this beautiful gastronomy into practice as traditionally as creatively, our character had the idea to join two chefs as competent and different in their approach to the furnaces.

To begin with, Charles Van Elewyck, with whom he had already worked in his previous brands and who, in Charlu, today embodies the basics of tradition.
But, to boost it through a more contemporary creativity, he also appealed to Olivier Destribois, an original Basque. This one, went through the kitchens of Evan Triantopoulos at the famous Grill aux Herbes de Wemmel, he brings to the kitchen of "Charlu" this little touch of gastronomic inventiveness!

As this addition of a winegrower sauce to a toast at the marrow. Or the idea, to accompany the classic herrings "apples with oil", to confit them in the butter rather than steaming them. Or, with an andouillette, serve a puree covered with a slice of tomme fresh from Auvergne before being au gratin, thus joining, without seeming, the flavor of an aligot.

Lunch from Wednesday to Friday, an unbeatable lunch at € 18, the dish of the day being offered at € 13.50 but also, every day, lunch and dinner, changing each month, a 3-course menu at € 35 and a 5 services at 52 €.

The wine list allows discoveries as friendly as affordable. Many of the crus "coup de coeur" offered here are indeed sold under € 30, with a clever selection that gives pride to the small artisan production, excellent value for money.

As soon as the fine weather returns, Charlu offers its guests a beautiful outdoor space which, because of the quiet and wooded environment of the house slightly back from the street, makes it possible to really believe in the countryside.
This without forgetting, for private or professional meetings, the availability on the floor of a beautiful room as practical as it is convivial.

So, for a gourmet and relaxed getaway, with the certainty of discovering beautifully enhanced products and an atmosphere all the more serene that a large car park is accessible a few steps from home, here is an address to become a must for all lovers of beautiful gourmet tables.
