The situation of travel agencies is more than catastrophic.


Here is the opinion of a trusted tour operator with whom we had the chance to participate in a trip to India.
These trips are always accompanied.

Currently some people postpone their trip sometimes by a year, sometimes by six months.
Others want an immediate refund!

If we have to reimburse, we all go bankrupt in the travel agency sector.

On our side we try to offer a voucher if due to confinement the traveler cannot get to his destination, there are two choices:

either a voucher or a refund. This last situation was recalled by Test-Achat and by Didier Reynders.
A financial option that could strike a fatal blow to the vast majority of travel agencies.
If the agencies have to reimburse everyone, it will mean the death of all travel agencies.
For trips in May and June, you should know that we have almost for all trips booked by our customers, paid a deposit or even paid the entire stay to different providers: tour operators, cruise lines, hotels ...

Today, it is not yet known how the airlines will react to this crisis.

The various measures (temporary unemployment, bridge rights, etc.) will not be enough to fill the huge shortfall caused by this pandemic.
Especially since this period is often the most important of the year in the travel sector.
So if we also have to reimburse everyone, that would be the death blow.
"The volcano in Iceland, the Tsunami, the attacks, etc ...": we never had the slightest help.

Here, if we are talking about financial reimbursement, we are talking about millions of euros even for a company like mine.
We are dealing with a much larger crisis.
We know that we are not the only ones impacted, but we will need help from the government (ies).

Now, we are adapting and we are going to prepare for the summer of 2021. We can no longer hope for 2020.
