September 10, 2019 New edition of Ericsson Day in Tunisia, full focus on the evolution of networks in the perspective of 5G.

The new edition of Ericsson Tunisia gathered during its meeting on Tuesday 10 September in Tunis, the main actors and decision-makers secteur of telecommunications in the presence of the Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy (TCEN) Mr. Anouar Maarouf and the Ambassador of Sweden in Tunisia Mrs. Anna Block Mazoyer to examine the challenges in the perspective of the arrival of 5G in Tunisia.

In her opening address, Ambassador Anna Block Mazoyer of Sweden declared
"Tunisia is an important partner in North Africa and we want to strengthen our bilateral relations in support of high-potential sectors such as ICTs.
We are proud of the Ericsson course in Tunisia since 1965, rich of great achievements but also know-how.
The technological advances that have helped to rank Sweden among the top ten OECD countries, we propose to make them available to our friendly countries like Tunisia to enable it to carry out the ambitious digital strategy she has drawn.
Very well placed in the 5G, Ericsson seems to me to be the ideal trusted partner. "

For his part the Minister of TCEN Mr. Anouar Maarouf,
"Tunisia is moving towards the digitization of its economy as part of its 2015-2024 digital strategy.
The goal is to make digitization a real driver of growth by strengthening the contribution of the digital economy
to the national economy by increasing its contribution to social and regional development.
We also support investment in human resources and work to support the innovative potential of young Tunisian talents.
Ericsson is a historic partner who has been present at various stages of the development of the sector and we are counting on this quality partnership to continue to realize our technological ambitions, in the perspective of 5G ".

How will the current telecom networks evolve to mark the road to 5G?

What will be the best way to respond to the opportunities that arise in different sectors with the arrival of this technology?

These are the main agenda items discussed by Ericsson participants and experts in the light of figures from the latest Ericsson mobility report published last June.
These clearly demonstrate the excitement of 5G that led Ericsson to review its predictions:

400 million additional mobile broadband subscriptions by the end of 2024
Nearly 1.9 billion subscriptions 5G against 1.5 billion in the November 2018 edition (an increase of about 27%)

The exponential growth is also confirmed knowing that:
In the first quarter of 2019, total mobile data traffic continued to explode globally, up 82% from the previous year.
Data traffic will reach 131 Exabytes per month by the end of 2024, when it is expected that 35% of the population will have access to 5G networks.
There are 1 billion mobile IoT connections in the world, which is expected to reach 4.1 billion by the end of 2024, 45% of which is represented by the "Massive IoT".
The Middle East and Africa region is expected to post the highest growth rate over the forecast period, multiplying by eight the total mobile data traffic between 2018 and 2024 (from 1.8 to 15 Exabytes / month).
This trend will continue to grow as a logical consequence of the development of digitization in the world, leaving no doubt in Tunisia that will see in the coming years several sectors adopt the "massive IoT" in public services with the intelligent measuring devices, in health with digital medical devices or transport
with remote tracking sensors.
Thus, several mobility-oriented domains will benefit from the 5G such as autonomous and connected vehicles, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), intelligent city management systems (in terms of response of aid services). citizen or road traffic) or energy optimization in the industry in favor of robotics.

Ericsson Tunisia CEO Slim Ghariani explains
"Mobile networks in Tunisia must prepare to welcome this new technology.
The launch last June by the National Telecommunications Authority of the international tender for the study on the opportunity and the technical-economic modalities of introducing 5G in Tunisia is a strong signal of the will of the authorities. public. Since 2016, Ericsson has been selling a range of Ericsson Radio System solutions, ready for 5G.
We are able to respond quickly to the expectations of Tunisian operators to evolve their network and thus enhance their competitiveness. "

Among the demonstrations presented by Ericsson experts at this event, some of which are unveiled in Tunisia for the first time include:
Connectivity in Industry 4.0
Ericsson Spectrum Sharing
Massive MIMO
IoT / 5G: robot fight with Ericsson Digital Lab
Cloud, NFV and Orchestration
ConsumerLab: case of use of 5G in virtual reality

The 5G and its latency in the order of one millisecond against 20M / S average for the 4G will evolve networks to the ultra performance, guaranteeing operators a higher quality of service that will allow them to increase their revenues and to provide new commercial services for end-users, industry, communities, with enhanced energy efficiency.
Ericsson currently has 47 contracts with operators in four continents, including 18 live contracts:
