Air Charter Service launches compensation program
carbon on its passenger flights

Press release - February 5, 2020.

Justin Bowman, CEO of Air Charter Service Group, says :
"We are aware that aviation is one of the sectors with the highest carbon emissions, along with the automobile and energy production.
Unfortunately, and unlike our colleagues, our sector does not yet have the technology to put an end to our fuel consumption.
We are convinced that funding the reduction of CO2 emissions in sectors that allow it is the best short-term solution, and we are also working towards a longer-term objective: electric theft. "

Since 2014, ACS has regularly invested in an electric aviation development program.
"To set up this new carbon offset program, we analyzed the rates of aircraft consumption and the distances traveled by 8,000 of our passenger flights over the past two years, and compared them to the selling price of each flight. We concluded that 0.5% of the charter price is more than enough to balance the emissions of each flight.
This amount will then be invested in our carbon offset fund, and will allow us to acquire carbon credits every quarter. "

He specifies :
"If the sums collected are not enough to buy the right amount of carbon credits to fully offset the emissions from our charters, ACS will cover the difference.
We will only invest these credits in climate projects approved by the United Nations and Gold Standard, two of the main certifications recognized in the world.
We won't get any money from buying credits.
Every penny will be invested in projects to reduce our carbon footprint. "

Our greatest challenge at the time of the implementation of this program was undoubtedly the lack of data and the impossibility of predicting the amount of carbon that each flight would produce, because the variables are numerous: we must take into account things like the weather, air traffic and even the amount of luggage.
Unlike some other providers, we are not prepared to make misleading statements regarding a
"Double reduction" but we are confident that our calculations will reduce more emissions than our flights produce.

The program came into effect on February 1 for all our private jet flights and on March 1 for commercial flights, from the Paris office and also from our other offices in Europe, North America, Africa and Australia.
