Charleroi, March 31, 2020 -

The current health crisis has forced Brussels South Charleroi Airport to temporarily shut down its activities.
Since March 24, 2020 (23.59), the airport has closed access to its infrastructure for passengers and airlines. In accordance with the recommendations of the Federal Government and according to information received from the airlines, the partial resumption of commercial activities on the tarmac at Brussels South Charleroi Airport could take place on Sunday, May 3, 2020 (23.59).

The airline industry is experiencing an unprecedented crisis today that has forced many airlines to nail some, if not all, of their fleets to the ground.
This is not without consequences for airports.
The drop in occupancy and frequency reductions on many routes have not spared Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
Faced with numerous travel restrictions, airlines have decided, one by one, to suspend operations from / to the airport.

Faced with a loss of more than 90% of its activity, the closure of passenger services and in view of the difficult financial situation, Brussels South Charleroi Airport has decided to suspend all of its commercial activities.

According to the last recommendations of the National Security Council of March 27, 2020 and according to the schedules announced by the airlines active on the tarmac of BSCA, the airport estimates, today, a partial resumption of its commercial activities from Sunday 3 May 2020 (23.59).
This date will have to be formalized later, depending on the evolution of the situation and in agreement with the different parties in order to guarantee the security of everyone.

Until confirmation of the official date of resumption of activities, only medical, state and maintenance flights are operated.

It is essential to follow the measures dictated by health specialists, in order to contain the epidemic of Coronavirus.
In this sense, Brussels South Charleroi Airport stresses the importance of staying at home and ensures a return to normal in the best conditions for the health and good of all.
